Mr. Elias is a native South Floridian. He attended Miami Country Day School in Miami Shores and supplemented his secondary education by attending summer programs at both Phillips Exeter Academy (N.H) and Choate Rosemary Hall (Conn). He obtained his undergraduate degree (BBA with emphasis in Finance at the Edwin Cox School of Business) at Southern Methodist University in Dallas in 1988. Mr. Elias then obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University Of Miami School Of Law in 1991. During law school he worked in the legal department of Carnival Cruise Lines.

Mr. Elias initially practiced law in the Miami office of Kimbrell & Hamann, P.A., where his primary areas of concentration included real estate workouts, transactions and litigation. A significant portion of Mr. Elias’ time was devoted to the representation of the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in their various capacities as receivers for federally-insured financial institutions.

Mr. Elias also practiced with the Miami office of Weiss Serota Helfman Pastoriza & Guedes, P.A. where he concentrated on land use/zoning, commercial leasing, commercial real estate transactions and governmental work as a member of the Real Estate Department. Additionally, Mr. Elias worked for the legal division of Modis (NYSE: MPS), where responsibilities included governmental contracting, legal consulting, and business development on a national basis.  Mr. Elias has practiced real estate and corporate law in Miami Lakes since 2001.  He has closed commercial and residential real estate transactions in excess of $450,000,000 on behalf of clients during that time.

Mr. Elias was elected President of the Miami Lakes Bar Association in 2010.  He also served as Chairman of the Board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida, Inc. in 2007-2008, among the largest chapters in the nation’s premier wish granting organization, and remains an active member of the Advisory Board of Directors of the Foundation. Mr. Elias is a former founding member of the Jr. Board of Directors of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. In 2001, he was appointed by the Chairperson of the Miami-Dade County School Board to the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Ethics. The Mayor of Miami Lakes appointed Mr. Elias to the Town of Miami Lakes Economic Development Committee in 2003. Additionally, he is a licensed Florida realtor. Mr. Elias is a member in good standing with the Florida Bar. In 2005, Mr. Elias was awarded an AV Lawyer Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer rating for professional excellence.
